Hose's Broadbill - Calyptomena hosei 20cm

One of the rarest and least known endemic broadbill to Borneo. Found throughout the hills and lower slopes of mountains from Kinabalu ( Poring ) to NE kalimantan and also at Mulu, Kelabit highland, usun apau, Lawas and Lanjak Entimau Sarawak. This picture taken last year Near Langganan Waterfall about 3km from the main office at poring Hots Spring. This is the second time i saw this bird after 10 long year looking for it.

Common winter visitor throughout Sabah.Found on the coast and paddy field.

Montane endemic
A common montane at Kinabalu Park and some others mountain in Borneo at 600-3200mm ASL.
Call a lot but difficult to get a eye level view

Uncommon and a scarce vagrant to North Borneo or Sabah. This is the first ever photograph of this bird in Sabah.

Buff-banded Rail - Gallirallus philippensis 30cm

Rapidly expanding population from Tempasuk Kota Belud to Kota Kinabalu. Now getting common to see them around any of the paddy field around kota Kinabalu.

Blue-naped Parrot - Tanygnathus lucionensis

Common bird around Tg.Aru Beach or better known as the Prince Phillip park. Use to be common around Pulau Mantanai off Kota Belud but i did not see the bird on our recce 2 years ago

Very common visitor to Sabah specially on the west coast. Normally the bird will occupy the same area once its settled.
Breeds in central Russia to NE Asia.

Scarce montane endemic. Uncommon from kinabalu south to kayan mentarang in kalimantan.
So far this is the best picture i've taken.
